Voice announcements and driving warning¶
Status as of 15.10.2026, applies to uGo 1.0.23 (in acceptance, see Release notes). The German version follows below: Sprachansagen und Fahrwarnung.
For customers
Written for customers and operators of URG systems. This page may be shared.
From uGo 1.0.23 the robot speaks. It announces its arrival, warns people while it drives, asks to pass when its way is blocked, and confirms when following starts and ends. It speaks in the language currently shown on its tablet: German, English, French, Spanish, Italian or Dutch. If the language is changed in the status bar, the next announcement uses the new language. Only the tablet of the robot speaks; the second display of a uServe (guest screen) stays silent.
What the robot says¶
| When | What the robot says | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Arrival at the destination | "I have arrived. You can now take your items." | on |
| Departure to a destination | "I am on my way." | off |
| While driving | "Caution, I am passing by." — about 3 s after setting off, then every 10 s | on |
| Way blocked for about 5 s | "Excuse me, may I get past, please?" — at most every 8 s | on |
| Way still blocked after 30 s | "Unfortunately I cannot get through here. Please make room for me." | on |
| Following starts | "Follow mode activated. I am following you." | on |
| Following ends (for any reason, including the emergency stop) | "Follow mode ended." | on |
| Wristband not found | "I cannot find your wristband. Please come closer." | on |
- The driving warning is not given while the robot is following a person, and not on the last metres before the charging station (docking). There the robot does not ask to pass either.
- As soon as the way is clear again, the requests stop and the driving warning resumes.
- The arrival is announced for trips started on the tablet. Stops of a tour do not announce the arrival; the driving warning and the requests to pass apply there too.
- Announcements never overlap. A warning that falls due while another announcement is playing is skipped.
- If an announcement cannot be played, the trip continues.
Known limits of uGo 1.0.23¶
- Lifts: uGo 1.0.23 does not detect lift rides. The driving warning and the requests to pass continue while the robot waits in front of and inside the cabin, and there is no lift announcement. At sites with a lift the service switches off the requests to pass.
- The wording of the announcements is a draft and may still change.
For the service: settings¶
Done by the URG service or a trained partner with the technician login, not by the operator. The settings are on the service page, section Announcements:
| Setting | Meaning | Default |
|---|---|---|
| One switch per announcement: Announce arrival, Announce departure, Warning while driving, Ask to pass when the way is blocked, Second request after 30 s of blockade, Announce follow mode on, Announce follow mode off, Announce a missing wristband | switches the announcement on or off | all on except departure |
| Driving warning every (s) | interval of the driving warning, 5 to 120 s | 10 |
| Driving warning as | Announcement or Warning tone (short double tone) | Announcement |
| Volume | 0 to 100, for all announcements and the warning tone | 60 |
| This device speaks | Automatic (only the robot’s tablet), Yes, No | Automatic |
| Announcement to play and Play | plays the selected announcement without a trip | – |
Changes take effect after Save announcements. The switch Warning while using the lift has no effect in uGo 1.0.23, because lift rides are not detected.
- Set the media volume of the tablet (Android sound settings) to 100 %. The volume on the service page works within it; with a low media volume the announcements are hardly audible.
- Play each announcement once with Play (playing works regardless of This device speaks).
- At sites with a lift: switch off Ask to pass when the way is blocked and Second request after 30 s of blockade, then Save announcements.
- Check with a trip: driving warning after about 3 s, arrival announcement at the destination.
To silence the robot without changing the software: switch off all announcements and tap Save announcements, or set This device speaks to No.

Was der Roboter sagt¶
| Wann | Was der Roboter sagt | Vorgabe |
|---|---|---|
Bitte machen Sie mir Platz.“ | an |
| Folgen beginnt | „Folgemodus aktiviert. Ich folge Ihnen.“ | an |
| Folgen endet (jeder Grund, auch Not-Halt) | „Folgemodus beendet.“ | an |
| Armband nicht gefunden | „Ich finde Ihr Armband nicht. Bitte kommen Sie näher.“ | an |
- Aufzug: uGo 1.0.23 erkennt keine Aufzugsfahrten.
