Follow me with the wristband¶
Status as of 16.10.2026, applies to uGo 1.0.22 to 1.0.24 (all in acceptance; Follow me is unchanged in 1.0.23 and 1.0.24, see Release notes). The German version follows below: Mir folgen mit Armband.
For customers
Written for customers and operators of URG systems. This page may be shared.
With "Follow me", the robot drives behind the person who wears its wristband, for short, accompanied trips. The tile appears on the start screen only on robots whose chassis can follow. The wristband is a bookable extension (see the service description of the robot). Each robot works with the wristband assigned to it; uGo does not assign wristbands. If a wristband is missing or does not match, contact the URG service.
Follow me is released only with the wristband. Following without a wristband (laser) is not released and is not a follow mode for operators.
Before you start¶
- Only the person with the wristband stays in the area in front of and behind the robot.
- The emergency stop of the robot must be within reach at all times.
- No tour and no trip may be running. On a uLog Lift the lift must be fully down.
Start following¶
- Put on the wristband and switch it on.
- Stand close in front of the robot — about 1 m.
- On the start screen tap Follow me, then Start following.
- The screen shows "Looking for a person in front of the robot …", then "The robot is following you." Walk off slowly; the robot follows.
Stop following¶
| What you do or what happens | What the robot does | Message on the screen |
|---|---|---|
| Tap Stop following | stops | "Stopped by hand." |
| Press the emergency stop | stops; after the emergency stop is released it does not drive off by itself | "The emergency stop was pressed." |
To stop the robot, tap Stop following on the tablet or press the emergency stop. Switching off the wristband is not a way to stop the robot.
uGo also ends following and stops the robot when, among other things, the robot picks up a different person, the detected position jumps, the person is too far away, the connection to the chassis is lost, the follow screen is no longer connected, a tour is started, the lift moves, or the longest follow time of 10 minutes is reached. Following never restarts on its own. After every stop, whatever the reason, tap Start following again to continue.
If the robot does not confirm that it has stopped, the screen shows "The robot did not confirm the stop. Press the emergency stop now." Press the emergency stop, check the robot, then tap "Robot has stopped – confirm".
Known limits of uGo 1.0.22¶
- Start only close to the robot: following starts when you stand about 1 m in front of the robot. From about 1.2 m it does not start, or it stops safely with the message "The robot picked up a different person." Step closer and start again. The hint on the screen still says "no more than 2 m"; stay within about 1 m.
- Without a wristband, the robot keeps searching until you tap Stop following. It does not move while it searches.
- No voice announcements: uGo 1.0.22 does not speak when following starts or ends; the state is shown on the screen. From uGo 1.0.23 the robot announces when following starts and ends and when the wristband is not found; see Voice announcements and driving warning.
- This version has been tested with the wristband: start, Stop following and the emergency stop were checked on the device on 14.10.2026.
Follow me with a web service open¶
In development, not yet in a released uGo version: while the robot follows you, the follow screen offers Web services if the technician has approved at least one. The robot keeps following while the web service is open; the safety bar below it always shows Pause, Stop following and Back to Follow me. Every other change of screen ends following as before. See Web services and Follow me.
For the service: setting up a robot¶
Done by the URG service or a trained partner with the technician login, not by the operator.
Required before every handover: Up to and including uGo 1.0.24, uGo does not check the follow mode at start. Carry out step 2 ("Set drive unit to wristband") before every handover, even if the robot was already set up.
- Device address of the chassis: on the service page the device address must point to port 8090, not 8080. With the wrong port the follow screen answers "The drive unit does not respond." (German interface: "Das Fahrwerk antwortet nicht.").
- Follow mode of the chassis: open Follow me, scroll down to "Technical: follow mode of the drive unit" and tap "Set drive unit to wristband". The screen confirms "The drive unit has accepted the follow mode." The setting stays stored in the chassis. It is set on the Follow me page, not in the service area. Use only this button. Other follow modes that the page may offer are not released; do not use them.
- Then check with the wristband: start, emergency stop, Stop following — each as in the table above.

Folgen beenden¶
| Was Sie tun oder was geschieht | Was der Roboter tut | Meldung am Bildschirm |
|---|---|---|
| Folgen beenden antippen | hält an | „Von Hand beendet.“ |
