Daily Operation

Day-to-day use of uMe with the Robotics Group App.

Connect

1. Robot cabled to the office router; tablet on the same Wi-Fi.
2. App → Connect to Robot → Connect via IP → the robot's IP → Connect.
3. The control screen shows live battery and mode.

Drive

1. Robot starts in DAMP. Tap PREP and slide to confirm — the robot extends its body.
2. Place the robot on the ground, then tap WALK.
3. Use the joysticks: left = walk/strafe, right = turn. Head and actions as needed.
4. Tap Stop at any time for an emergency stop (returns to DAMP).

Recover a fallen robot

If the robot is lying down, switch to PREP and use the Get Up button (shown only in PREP, because the motors must be active).

Persona and context

The Persona & Context editor (the tune icon on the agent chip) sets what the robot knows about its situation for the voice dialog — replacing manual edits of custom_settings.toml over SSH:

1. Context — where the robot is and its role (e.g. "Kern conference in Billerbeck, greeting visitors").
2. Welcome phrase — how it greets people.
3. Save — the Gateway writes custom_settings.toml on the robot and restarts the voice service.

This turns a trade-fair or care setup into a 30-second job from the tablet.

Battery

Battery percentage is shown in the control screen and streamed in every status frame. Charge in good time; behavior at low battery follows the uMe platform defaults.

Languages

The app is available in German, English, Arabic (RTL), French, Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese and follows the device language.
