uMe Eyes — status overview

Status as of 31.10.2026. In development — relay service protocol 1.2 in development in the repository ume-eyes, not yet adopted, not yet installed on any device. Audience: booth staff briefed by URG, service technicians and appointed partners. The page follows in German below: Deutsch. Set-up: uMe Eyes — set-up, kiosk lock and relay service.

For IT, technicians and integration partners

Technical reference for IT departments, URG technicians and trained partners. It is not written as operating instructions for end users.

1 Where to open it

The relay service on the fair laptop serves the overview:

  • on the laptop: http://localhost:8770/
  • on other devices in the closed fair router Wi-Fi: http://ume-eyes-relay.local:8770/
  • machine-readable (JSON): path /api/v1/status

If ume-eyes-relay.local does not resolve on a device (some devices do not support mDNS names), view the overview on the laptop itself.

The page reloads every 10 s. It can be read without a password — this is only allowed in the closed fair router Wi-Fi, never in the open fair Wi-Fi and never from the internet (see operating conditions). Requests from outside the allowed networks receive HTTP 403.

2 What it shows

One line per device: the three kiosks (box 2, box 3, box 6) and the robots uMe 1 and uMe 2.

Column Content
Box, name from the central configuration (not from the tablet)
State see section 3
Last report time of the last status report
Last interaction seconds since the last touch or input
Battery, charging battery level 0–100 and charging yes/no, if the device reports it
Network Wi-Fi, LAN, mobile or none
App version, content version short version texts
Speech actual state at the tablet (on/off)
Counters conversations, push-to-talk, text inputs, answers, emotions, rejected tools, discarded messages, fallbacks (in memory only, reset at restart)

3 States

State Display Meaning
idle Idle kiosk is waiting
conversation Conversation a conversation is running
question_mode Question mode kiosk shows the approved questions without AI (relay service, its internet connection or the speech service missing, or chosen by the visitor)
fault Fault the kiosk reports a fault
help Help requested, Box n a term of the warning list was entered; the kiosk shows the warning screen
offline Offline no status report for 20 s or the connection is closed
not_polled Not polled robots only: reading the robot status is switched off (default)

„Help requested, Box n“: there is no active notification. Booth staff look at the overview regularly and go to the box. The warning screen at the kiosk only asks the visitor to speak to booth staff and, in an emergency, to call 112; it never promises that somebody is fetched. The warning list also matches inside longer words, so „Help requested“ can be an accepted false positive (for example a question about the emergency department box); staff clarify this on site.

„Not polled“: by default the relay service does not connect to any robot, because the Gateway stops the robot when such a connection is closed. Reading is switched on only deliberately on the technician page. Even then the battery level shown is the level at the moment of pairing.

4 What it never shows

  • No addresses (IPv4, IPv6, MAC). Addresses appear only on the password-protected technician page.
  • No names of persons.
  • No conversation content — no text, transcript, audio or image.

This also holds if such values were contained in the underlying data; the relay service filters them (covered by a test).

uMe Eyes — Statusübersicht

Stand 31.10.2026.

  • maschinenlesbar (JSON): Pfad /api/v1/status

2 Was sie zeigt

App-Fassung, Inhaltsfassung kurze Fassungstexte
Sprache tatsächlicher Zustand am Tablet (an/aus)
Zähler Gespräche, Sprechtaste, Texteingaben, Antworten, Emotionen, abgewiesene Werkzeuge, verworfene Nachrichten, Rückfälle (nur im Arbeitsspeicher, beim Neustart auf null)

3 Zustände

Zustand Anzeige Bedeutung
idle Leerlauf Kiosk wartet

4 Was sie nie zeigt

  • Keine Adressen (IPv4, IPv6, MAC). Adressen stehen nur auf der kennwortgeschützten Technikerseite.
  • Keine Personennamen.
  • Keine Gesprächsinhalte — kein Text, kein Transkript, kein Audio, kein Bild.
