Call buttons with light — commissioning

Status as of 15.10.2026, applies to uGo 1.0.16 and later (current field release 1.0.18, see Release notes). The German version follows below: Ruftaster mit Leuchte — Inbetriebnahme.

For IT, technicians and integration partners

Technical reference for IT departments, URG technicians and trained partners. It is not written as operating instructions for end users.

Audience: service technicians of United Robotics Group and trained partners. This page is the order of work at the customer site for a robot with one or more call buttons and no lift. The background of the Building tab is in the Technician manual — Building tab; the module itself is described on u-IoT.

In short: the module needs no call settings — as delivered it already switches its light on and off. Everything else is done on the technician page of the robot, in this order: tour → rule → module → button.

How it works

  • The light is the call. A press switches the module's own light on. A second press switches it off — the call is cancelled.
  • The robot reads the light of every assigned button every 2 s and puts the button's tour into its normal job queue.
  • At the button's point the robot switches the light off.
Event Light Robot
Press on call queued within 2 s, the robot drives when it is free
Second press while the call is waiting off call removed from the queue
Second press while the robot drives to this button off the robot stops and takes the next waiting call; if none is waiting it drives to the charging station; without a free charging station it stays where it is
Robot arrives at the point switched off by the robot waits at the stop (default 5 s), the tour ends
On and off within less than 2 s off nothing
Module not reachable unchanged nothing changes
Power cut at the module off after the restart counts as cancelled
Alles anhalten (stop all) on the robot switched off by the robot the robot stops, the queue is empty
Several lights on on served one after the other, first come, first served

One robot per button. A button is set up on one robot only.

Before you start

What Needed
uGo on the robot 1.0.16 or later, 1.0.18 recommended
Firmware of the call-button module 1.9.1 or later (module page, tab System › Firmware)
Network customer Wi-Fi name and password, and one fixed address per module (or a reservation in the customer's address server) in the same network as the robot, from the customer's IT
Map robot localised on its active map; on that map one named point per button and a charging station
Access technician password of the robot from the password manager

Why a fixed address: the robot stores the address of the module. If the module gets a new address from the network, the robot loses the button.

No passwords, codes or network addresses in tickets, photos or videos. Not needed: a site computer or any call setting on the module.

Step 1 — Module: Wi-Fi and check (about 10 minutes per module)

  1. Switch on one module at a time. Connect the laptop to the module's own wireless network (u-IoT- followed by six characters) and open the module console.
  2. Tab Wi-Fi: Force AP Mode shows Off (Auto), APSTA Rescue stays on, Auto Reconnect = Enabled, SSID via Start Scan, station Password = customer Wi-Fi password, IP Mode = Static with the fixed address, gateway and netmask from the customer's IT. Leave channel, network name and password of the module's own network as set by the URG workshop. Save Network Settings — the page may lose the connection, that is normal.
  3. Laptop back in the customer Wi-Fi: http://<module-address>/ping answers {"status":"pong"}.
  4. Tab Actions › Configured Actions lists two actions of type DO Toggle (input 1 → output 1, input 2 → output 2). There must be no action of type Call Me Request — if there is one, Delete it. Do not touch the tab Coordination.
  5. Press the button: light on; press again: light off. Leave the light off.

A module with an older configuration (light only on while the button is held, a toggle action is missing): tab System › Factory Reset, then step 1 again (the Wi-Fi settings are reset too).

Step 2 — Robot: one tour and one rule per button

Open the technician page: on the laptop http://<robot-address>:5301/service, on the tablet hold one finger for 2 s in the top left or bottom right corner. The pages Touren (tours) and Regeln (rules) exist in German only; their labels are given as on the screen.

Rule of thumb: one button = one point = one tour = one rule = one button ID.

Tour — page Touren, per button: Neue Tour; Name der Tour; Dauerschleife not ticked; Halt hinzufügen with the point of the button (exactly one stop); warten (s) 5 or more; Alle Touren speichern. The robot switches the light off at the stop with the same name as the point of the button.

Rule — page Regeln, per button:

Field Entry
Name e.g. the name of the button; it appears later in the assignment
Auslöser (trigger) Ruftaster (the preset is a time of day)
Tour the tour of this button
Kennung des Tasters (button ID) unique, short, no spaces; never the same for two buttons
Priorität 3 — normal, the same for all buttons
Wenn er gerade fährt (if it is driving) anstellen (queue)
Nur wenn der Akku über — egal —

Tick an (on) next to the rule — new rules are off — and Regeln speichern.

Step 3 — Robot: add the module and assign the button

Section Gebäude (Building), card Module (Modules):

  1. In Suchbereich (scan range) delete the preset and enter the single address of the module. Port 80. Module suchen (scan for modules).
  2. Give the find a name, In die Liste aufnehmen (add to list), then Modulliste speichern (save module list) — without this nothing is stored.
  3. Öffnen (open): pressing the button switches the output on, a second press off.

Observed in the field, October 2026

A scan over a range did not find the call-button modules in the customer network; entering the single address of each module worked. Always enter the single address.

The card Rufe (calls) reads modules and rules only when the section is opened. After adding a module or a rule: on the laptop reload the page (F5); on the tablet switch to another section and back, or leave with Zur Bedienung and open the technician page again.

Card Rufe, block Ruftaster (call buttons), per button:

Field Entry
Modul the module of this button
Anschluss (connection) Eingang 1 (input 1) or Eingang 2
Punkt the same point as in the tour
Modus Leuchte (an = gerufen, aus = abbestellt) (light: on = called, off = cancelled) — never the input mode
Leuchte (gerastet) (latched light) the same module and the same number as the input: input 1 → output 1, input 2 → output 2
Fahrt zum Punkt ticked
Regel bei Druck (rule on press) the rule of this button
Ton not ticked

Taster zuordnen (assign button). Expected: "Der Taster ruft jetzt zum Punkt „…“." Afterwards no red "Leuchte fehlt — wird nicht überwacht" and no red "Punkt fehlt auf dieser Karte"; the line "Tasterabfrage: 1 Modul(e), zuletzt …" shows a time that moves on every few seconds.

Do not use Zum Koordinator machen (make coordinator) — it is not needed for the light mode and rewrites the call settings of the module. Do not assign the same button on a second robot.

Step 4 — Test with a real press

One short video per case. Before: all lights off, robot localised, somebody stands next to the robot. Watch the queue on the page Regeln and the line "Letzter Ruf: …" in Gebäude › Rufe.

Never test a button in light mode with Tastendruck nachstellen or Jetzt auslösen

The light stays off, so the robot withdraws the call within 2 s — and if it has already set off, it stops and drives to the charging station. Press the real button, or switch the output on under Gebäude › Module › Öffnen.

Test Do Expected
T1 press A light on at once; within 2 s "Letzter Ruf: … Fährt los."; the robot drives to A
T2 wait at A the light goes off, the robot waits at the stop
T3 press A, while the robot drives press B, then B again B off and out of the queue within 2 s, the robot continues to A
T4 press A, while the robot drives press A again A off; the robot stops within 2 s and takes the next call, otherwise the charging station
T5 press A, then B first A, then B; each light goes off on arrival
T6 press A twice within less than 2 s nothing happens
T7 press A, unplug the module for 10 s, plug it in during the outage nothing changes ("nicht erreichbar"); after the restart the light is off and the call is cancelled
T8 press A and B, then Alles anhalten the robot stops, the queue is empty, the lights are off; the next press works normally

Record: date, robot, software version, module names, result of T1 to T8, file names of the videos. No passwords or addresses in any picture.

Troubleshooting

First read "Letzter Ruf: …" and "Tasterabfrage …" in Gebäude › Rufe.

Picture or message Cause Remedy
Module suchen finds nothing scan over a range; wrong port; module not in the Wi-Fi enter the single address of the module, port 80; http://<module-address>/ping must answer pong
module missing under Rufe, rule missing under Regel bei Druck the card was loaded before saving reload as described in step 3
"nicht erreichbar: …" module without power, out of the Wi-Fi or with a new address check power and Wi-Fi; new address: scan the single address, Neue Adresse übernehmen, Modulliste speichern; guest Wi-Fi that isolates its clients: customer IT
light on while pressed, off on release older module configuration Factory Reset, step 1 again
light does not come on wiring, or the toggle action is missing module Dashboard: does input 1 become active? If not, wiring; if yes and output 1 stays low, step 1 / Factory Reset
"… die Regel dafür ist ausgeschaltet …" rule not ticked an tick it, Regeln speichern
"Steht schon in der Warteschlange." at a second button two buttons share one rule one rule and one button ID per button
light stays on after the arrival the stop of the tour is on another point than the button the same point in tour and assignment
after a cancellation the robot drives to the charging station although another light is on known limitation of the light mode wait a few seconds; if the robot does not turn back, film it and report it
odd extra rides after a press an action of type Call Me Request on the module delete it (step 1)
the robot sets off without anybody pressing a light was switched through the module interface, which has no login report it; run the modules only in a protected network segment
two robots react the button is assigned on more than one robot keep it on one robot only
a change is rejected the technician login has expired after ten minutes log in again

Limits

  • One robot per button; calls are not shared between robots.
  • The queue is kept in memory. After a restart of uGo only buttons whose light is on are queued again.
  • A power cut at a module cancels its call.
  • On and off within less than 2 s is not seen.
  • The module interface has no login of its own — modules run only in a protected network segment (see u-IoT).

Mehrere Leuchten an an nacheinander, wer zuerst drückt, zuerst

Was Benötigt

  3. Laptop wieder im Kunden-WLAN: http://<Moduladresse>/ping antwortet {"status":"pong"}.
  4. Reiter Actions › Configured Actions zeigt zwei Aktionen vom Typ DO Toggle (Eingang 1 → Ausgang 1, Eingang 2 → Ausgang 2). Es darf keine Aktion vom Typ Call Me Request geben — falls doch: Delete. Den Reiter Coordination nicht anfassen.

Test Tun Erwartet
T1 A drücken Leuchte sofort an; binnen 2 s „Letzter Ruf: …
T5 A drücken, dann B erst A, dann B; jede Leuchte geht bei Ankunft aus
T6 A zweimal binnen weniger als 2 s nichts geschieht
